The New Concept !
The Windsurfing Sled with Windsurfing Ski

Image

This new concept of windsurfing sled with single winsdurfing ski received the World Ice and Snow Sailing Association's (W.I.S.S.A.) prize for best design i 2006. (Best Design 2006) .

This new kind of ski togheter with an optimized low drag platform allows you to windsurf easely and safely on ice and snow without any parts to install or remove.

In winter, ice and snow conditions vary quite often but you will be free to windsurf on any kind of surface as long as there is sufficient wind... and the ice or snow is thick enough!

Caracteristics of the Winsurfing Ski
  1. Self directional stability on ice and snow video (1,95Mo)
  2. Sideways grip on ice even when the windsurfing ski is laying flat video (3,9 Mo)
  3. No add-on parts (blade, etc.) are required to windsurf on all kind of surfaces. Thus, you can sail indifferently video (3,8 Mo) on mixe surfaces of ice or snow on the same ride.
  4. Directional Stability on Snow video (4,2 Mo)
  5. Smooth transition between ice or snow covered surfaces video (4,2 Mo)
  6. Simplicity: No steering mechanism, no break-down!
  7. Manovrability similar to the modern windsurfing board, by inclining the platform toward to the chosen direction, followed by the proper handling of the sail and the motion of the windsurfer if required. video (3,2 Mo)

Caracteristics of the Windsurfing Platform
  1. Ergonomical
  2. Low drag carinate platform
  3. Double internal suspension: Improve stability in rough surface and manovrability.
  4. Ajustable sliding foot mast
  5. Ajustable foot-straps
  6. Easy to stand on the platform because it is control by the feet and by the weight of the windsurfer to conter-balance the power of the sail

Description of my windsurfing sled
It is a carened ovoïde platform with one specially designed windsurfing ski. I name my windsurfing sled “Véliluge” (which means wind propelled sled) follow by the model identification
Example: (
Véliluge WS-1 ) = Windsurfing sled + 1 windsurfing ski

Vitesse de la Véliluge MSW-1
As anyone can understand, the better the slide, the faster is the top speed. Double the speed of the wind is a normal standard on a good snow covered surface. The phenomenon which allows to overspeed the nominal wind is called (apparent wind) which is the wind perceived by the sail while windsurfing. It is possible to reach up to 4 times the wind speed in perfect ice conditions, stable wind, and high performance sails. A GPS is an affordable mean to read your true speed. Remember, maybe you'd be disapointed reading 40kmh=(25mh). But reaching that speed with a true wind of 10kmh=(6.2mh), is also 4 times the wind speed, it is really high performance!

An important advice about speed: do not use old sails because they are unstable at high speed and you then might be throwned and severly hurt. To get more informations about this subject, you can get in touch with me by email
